A rebus is a kind of word puzzle that uses pictures to represent words or parts of words. The term rebus also refers to the use of a pictogram to represent a syllabic sound. A logo says Eye Bee M by pictures only, you still can read as IBM.

I did a rebus in IKEA, it reads as Eye Key Yacht. This exercise shows how an icon can replace words, in a visual way to present any brand or a story.

Research4: Revolution Symbol

This was the flag during the Russian Revolution. The symbols on the flag are a hammer and a sickle.Russia was not doing well Economically or politically at that time , so the hammer represents the workers (factory/industrial), and sickle: Farmers. This was a strong symbol because its meaning seems general, but it simply represents what kind of people in the revolution was exactly for workers.

Nowadays a strong revolution symbol will also apparels on clothing as many people use it as symbolic decoration.

The distribution for the environmental cause, our tribal poster and packaging designs are using the name Osoap as a while branding concept. To give a name to the soap is going to help us to distribute in public. As they are consistenced using the same logo and colour concept. Base information about environmental issue and farther information on website are written on all collateral. Also to have a video of our soap making process is to get people’s interest and willing to find out more even after the distribution.

3 draft cause symbols base on greens and leafs. Leaf is common known as global icons for environment.

The final one I have chosen to be the environmental cause symbol. A fine lined artwork.

Western philosophy really begins with Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. They looked at the works of their predecessors and said in effect “why can’t you be more like your brother?”. Russell was still saying the same thing 2300 years later.

Death is the end of a person’s life. Death is an interruption to life, like sleep or disease, only permanent. Life is to be lived in spite of it. Do you believe in heaven or the fact people die when their lives end.

In Class Exercises4 *Pixel Portrait*

This is an exercise to do 5 pixel portraits, by using 50x50 pixels grid in Photoshop. One pixel by one to colour in to create likeable school staff portraits.

It takes a long time to create each portrait, which those colour pixels has massive of different colours on a face. So I limited down the colours to 6 or less by adjustment colour in photoshop. This way makes it a bit easier to colour in, and I love the finial image all though pixel portrait can takes forever to do.

In Class Exercises3 *Road Sign*

In this exercise I have to create road signs on those yellow triangles. In Illustrator I've draw out icons which are used as what it describes, as usual. e.g. football represents soccer pitch, popcorn for a cinema, a surf broad in big surf picturing. etc...

At the end, I didn't like what I did, because all the icons for the road sign people already known as a comment sense. I should have use a character with different elements to create different scenes. Next time come to this kind of exercise I would like to use creativity a bit more, and it will be much more fun than just use usual elements.

In Class Exercises2 *Tangram*

Using a dissection puzzle consisting of 7 flat shapes, to make 6shapes with no overlap but touching one other piece by a point or side.

Summary: It's an interesting exercise for me, when creating those objects with sharp angle triangles is quite hard, and have to use your imagination to picturing out the object you want it to be. This exercise really bring out my creativity, and play it with hands is quite fun and encouraging too.

In Class Exercises1 *Humpty Dumpty symbol story board*

By using given symbols to create a different story with the Humpty Dumpty story line.

A different meaning of the story has been made...

The first image is using masks to symbolic a people who is a psychosis.

Second and third image says the psychosis had a great jump with a smile on the face, I though using a smiling face symbol is a simple way to represents what it says.

The rest of the story is using all different symbols to show what people are getting after their jump or suicide.

Environmental cause symbol design

A symbol design for Environmental Causes

There are 3 ideas symbol for environmental.

The left hand side has an earth image to represent global, and the leaf attach to it has a meaning of 'save one single leaf can save the earth'.

The middle one is simple 2 leafs create a V shape means of peace and love, and its also in green.

The right hand side symbol represents 'We care for greens' that the hands hold a heart shape around a leaf.

This is the final one I have choose to be the environmental cause symbol -- Love and Care for the Greens.
